The data for the Italian GDP (Gross Domestic Product) pertaining the last trimester of 2013 are showing that Italy is undergoing a profound financial crisis: GDP lowered 6,4%, GNP lowered 8,4% and it also showed a catastrophic drop in consumers goods.
In the actual situation the packaging industry is still showing growing potentials.
This is the worldwide geographic situation:
- Asia owns 30% of the share
- North America 26%
- Western Europe 25%
- Easter Europe 9%
- Central America 5,7%
The packaging industry live the same situation as the national production, therefore they experiment together the same increase-decrease effects.
We can also state that the packaging production is generally more positive that the Italian production and is capable to reach better results.
Italy s keeps a good position in the industry, as it still makes the 6 % of the global production with about 29 billion Euros in 2012 (the global production was 490 billion ). So we are still among the first 10 global producers in the packing industry.
On a national level the packaging represent the 3,6% of the manufacturing industries and 1,8% of the GDP ( Gross Domestic Product ). On the foreign trade the results are moderate: the exports did decrease only 5% and the imports only 0,1% in 2012.The destination countries for the exportation in 2012 were mostly within the EU (the majority with 77%) and Turkey and North Africa were the destination countries for the remaining 33%.
